Her career mainly revolves around filmmaking, and she is an alumni of Berlinale Talents and the Kyoto Filmmaker’s Lab in 2022. Her works in sound and music often drifts away from the realms of reality and truth, where the soundscape lives, breathes, and dances with the picture.
She has worked on multiple short films as a composer/sound designer and has recently collaborated with filmmakers internationally, including China, Japan and United States. She completed an experimental drama feature titled 'O' by Joy Young, and short film ’CIVIC’ by Dwayne LeBlanc, which was screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Clermont Ferrand 2023, as well as the New Directors/New Film programme in MoMA New York. Her sound work for the short film 'A Worm, Whatever Will Be, Will Be' by Mickey Lai premiered at the 59th Golden Horse Film Festival 2022, and the documentary ’Me and My Cult Leader’ by Atsushi Sakahara was part of Sheffield Doc Fest and IDFA in 2020. Her recent completion of the score for the first successfully crowdfunded Malaysian feature film 'Pendatang' by Ng Kenkin will be released in December 2023.
Yinn also writing and developing several short films and a feature project, expanding her obsession and passion for sound, music and storytelling with moving or non-moving images. She is interested in exploring the spectrum of the human experience with the juxtaposition of textures in music and the polyphony of moving images. Yinn is deeply committed to translating the synthesis of art, music, stories and fantasy into a symphonic sky of stars on a cloudless dark night - an encompassing space that is sincere, complex, and has power to touch and heal.
